The Sayang Project Has Landed...

I suppose we should introduce ourselves! As you can see on the right we are Diploma in Communication students of Taylor's College Petaling Jaya (TCPJ) currently in our fourth semester. There are 28 of us in total working on this project.

We decided to name our project The Sayang Project because we believe that this Bahasa Malaysia word for love is a powerful, yet underused word that represents all things surrounding love like kindness, care, compassion, sacrifice, etc. Our official tag line, "A Gift You Can Afford" holds that material gifts can always be bought, but not everyone can necessarily afford them. Love's nature of being priceless and therefore affordable makes it a gift that everyone can afford to give.

Our official logo (see left) resembling two stick figures joining their arms and legs to form a heart symbolize the common ground that links us all together regardless of our differences: love. The scribbles within the heart and the crayon-like drawings were deliberately done to represent children along with their young, carefree and innocent attitudes.

What makes us unique is that our main aim is not to raise funds or awareness through this project, but mostly to volunteer ourselves as mentors for orphans from different orphanages around the Klang Valley area through organizing a 3 days, 2 nights camp of various activities. These activities are aimed at teaching the children skills that are generally not emphasized in school and providing an opportunity for them to widen their social circle by meeting other orphans in a fun, safe and healthy environment.

More updates on the camp location and activities will be posted soon!
